  Had lunch here today late afternoon. I called 2 times.. No one answered. I wanted to find out if I needed to make reservations for lunch.. I left a message, no one returned my call.. I decided to just show up with 2 others for a late lunch... Nothing special..... Appetizer came way after we had finished lunch... Food was just ok. The sandwich was basic for the price. the Chicken Ceaser was not the greatest and the Thai soup was the same as from Coffee and Cakes across the street. All in all I would say, Not the greatest place for good tasting food. The Snug in Newcastle has a better lunch. The one redeeming thing I would say is that the atmosphere was very nice...Not sure I would visit here again. Perhaps I would give it another try in the future...

  4.5 stars, Nice atmosphere, impeccable service, and larger inside than you expect, mostly a lunch and breakfast cafe. They also have an open mic on Thursday nights. This place serves a dinner option Thurs - Sat I believe, which from what I understand consists of 1 or 2 different entrées and an appetizer. Outside of the dinner options the menu is pretty basic as it is a cafe. We went this past Thursday for dinner and I will say the food was some of the best prepared food I have had in durham region! The meal consisted of a French Onion soup which was fantastic, a Baked Garlic Shrimp appetizer, and a Cajun Salmon Fillet with avocado Salsa over rice with seasonal vegetables both of which were very good! Simple buy very well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Really looking forward to them expanding on their dinner options, would be nice to have another place outside of Chanterelle's to go to in Bowmanville for quality food! 5 stars if the next visit is just as good!

  Nov 5th 2016. Wonderful evening at the Birch where we had a private party for my wife. Perfect venue for our 65 guests, hot buffet, drinks, music, dancing. Nicole and her staff were superb and made it a night to remember! Jim Murdoch, Bowmanville.
